The front door, back door and first-floor windows are the most common entryways for criminals, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics. In fact, around 81 percent of burglars enter through the first floor, so put your cameras where burglars are most likely to enter. Plus, the front door is a great place to put a security camera because you can use it to see who's at the door before answering.

"Authorizing a bag tax, establishing an inspector general for county schools and changing liquor laws are among the legislative priorities for Prince George’s County lawmakers who return to Annapolis in January for the next legislative session.
The county delegation unveiled more than two dozen proposed bills that could introduce new taxes, changes in bi-county agencies such as the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission and increased oversight measures for the county education system."

WANTED Young People’s Voice on Policing

It’s an important conversation. Each month, Chief Magaw, the Executive Command Staff and a group of young people meet at PGPD Headquarters in Palmer Park. These young people sit on the Chief’s Youth Advisory Council. They hear about our department and, in turn, we get their opinions on policing and current events. Chief Magaw created this council earlier this year with the goal of establishing an open dialogue with an age group that will bring a valued perspective on law enforcement issues. Several bright young citizens join us each month for this conversation, but we’re excited to now expand that group. The council is open to those between the ages of 16-24. Candidates would preferably live, work or attend school in Prince George’s County. Anyone interested in joining us on this important council is asked to write a paragraph about themselves and include why he or she would like to sit on the council. Ark Media is seeking African American families from Prince George's County, Maryland for a story about the Black Middle Class, as part of a four-hour PBS documentary series.
This series -- tentatively entitled FROM BLACK POWER TO THE WHITE HOUSE - takes viewers on a journey through the last half-century of African American history, exploring the unprecedented progress and lingering obstacles to racial equality since the landmark legislative victories of the civil rights movement. The series will be hosted and executive produced by Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., and will air on national PBS in 2016.
We are looking to interview a family from Prince George's County as part of a discussion about the growth of the African American middle class.
We would love to speak to you if you or your family:
• Identify as middle or upper middle class and African American
• Currently live in Prince George's County
• Moved to Prince George's County in the 1970's
• Lived in a neighborhood with a population that changed from predominantly white to African American, and
• Observed first hand the effects of the subprime mortgage crisis of 2008-09 in your neighborhood
